Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden snogs Hollyoaks star in first look at new role after quitting soap
EMMERDALE star Matthew Wolfenden is snogging a Hollyoaks star in his first acting role since quitting the ITV soap.
The actor – who played David Metcalfe in the ITV soap – left in 2023 having reportedly grown tired of not getting any gritty storylines.
He made his debut in the soap in 2006 and stayed for 17 years.
And now he’s landed his first TV role since quitting – and he’s getting very up close and personal with former Hollyoaks star Ross Adams.
Matthew appears in Channel Five’s Good Ship Murder and can be seen in the trailer locking lips with Ross’s character cruise director Colin Smallwood.
It is his first small screen role since leaving the Dales – although he has also signed up to appear on a reality show.
Now a source has exclusively revealed that the actor is set to feature on the upcoming 13th season of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.
They told the Sun: “Matthew has signed up for the show – he thinks it’ll be a laugh and fun to be on TV as himself not his soap character.”
The BBC Two show sees household names team up in pairs to trawl through antiques.
Each duo is tasked with making more money off the second hand items at auction than they spent buying them.
A bit of a change from Emmerdale.
Back in 2023 a source told The Sun on Sunday: “Matthew has had an amazing time on the soap, but feels ready for a change.
“He hasn’t been getting any gritty storylines recently so wants to see what else is out there.
“He’s a fan favourite so will get a lot of support in whatever he decides to do next.
“He’s very excited about the opportunities available.
“He’s only just announced he is leaving so scriptwriters are working out his on-screen exit. It’s possible David could be killed off.”
