Former Hollyoaks star Callum Kerr has shared a statement following the d.e.a.t.h of his mother, Dawn Searle, and her husband, Andrew.
The couple were found dead at their home in southwest France on Thursday, with officials believing that their d.e.a.t.h.s were “clearly a homicide”.
Kerr, who played George Kiss on the Channel 4 soap for just over a year before departing in May 2021, took to Instagram to share a statement following the tragic events, writing that the family were “grieving”.
“At this time, Callum Kerr and Amanda Kerr are grieving the loss of their mother, Dawn Searle (nee Smith, Kerr), while Tom Searle and Ella Searle are mourning the loss of their father, Andrew Searle,” read the statement.
“No family member is available for media interviews or comments. We kindly request that their privacy be respected during this difficult period. We will provide updates as appropriate. Thank you for your understanding.”
Dawn and Andrew, who had wed in 2023, had been living in Les Pesquiès – a rural area just north of Toulouse – for the past decade following their retirement; their bodies were reportedly found by a neighbour after they failed to show up for a planned dog-walk.
The investigation into their d.e.a.t.h.s is still continuing, with a spokesperson for the UK’s Foreign Office saying (via The Mirror): “We are supporting the family of a British couple who died in France and are liaising with the local authorities.”
Kerr, who also starred in Monarch and will appear in the second season of One Piece, confirmed in December 2023 that he had welcomed a baby girl, Isla, with fiancé Lauren Stacy, with the star sharing the news via social media.
“Meet my daughter, my world: Isla,” he wrote. “The other love of my life @laurenstacy7 was amazing thru the whole thing…isn’t she GLOWING!?!? Feeling like the luckiest guy in the world – words don’t cover it.”
