Neighbours‘ Taye Obasi is set to become the ‘new Byron Stone’ in an upcoming escorting storyline.
The newcomer recently found himself in hot water when he accidentally booked an expensive entertainer for the Piano Bar. Taye blackmailed Fallon Morell into giving him $10,000 but, after losing his leverage, Fallon has been demanding her money back.
In next week’s episodes, uplifted Sadie Rodwell agrees to a drink with Max Ramsay and Byron at The Waterhole. Meanwhile, working at the Piano Bar, Taye’s attention is caught by a glamourous woman who asks if Byron is on shift.
After relaying that Byron doesn’t work there, Taye texts his friend. When Byron arrives, he’s thrown to see it’s one of his former escorting clients, Lydia Hardy.
Lydia offers to hire him again but Byron tells her he’s no longer in the game, leaving an eavesdropping Taye with an idea.
Byron shares Lydia’s offer with his amused friends, but privately tells Taye how much he used to earn from escorting. Taye is stunned, as his thoughts turn to the money he owes Fallon and the cash he needs to fund his move to the share house.
Back at the Piano Bar, Taye gives Lydia his number, claiming he’s an escort too, and giving his name as ‘Sonny Manhattan’.
After work, when Max asks Taye if he’s found a solution to his money troubles, Taye hints he has. He gets a text from Lydia saying they’re on and he heads off to meet her at her rented accommodation.
When Taye arrives, he’s nervous. But assuming he’s role playing, Lydia takes charge, telling him to take off his shirt. Taye begins to strip, way out of his comfort zone. Will he go through with it?
