Hollyoaks fans were left stunned after a shocking twist in the latest episode revealed a major development: James Nightingale might still be alive.

James, played by Gregory Finnegan, was believed to have died in a horrific car explosion ahead of the show’s recent time jump. His exit was part of a major cast reduction, leaving many viewers heartbroken. However, the episode aired on October 16 has reignited hope for the character’s return.

In a cryptic scene, Rex Gallagher was seen making a suspicious phone call, during which he seemingly hinted that he had lied to Ste Hay about his husband James’s death. Ste, who overheard the conversation, begins to question: Could James still be alive?

While fans are buzzing with excitement over a potential comeback, Gregory Finnegan quickly addressed the speculation via his Instagram Story. He wrote:

“From the amount of messages I’ve got in the past 24 hrs, something appears to be happening on Hollyoaks…!”

The actor then added:

“It’s news to me.”

He also encouraged fans to check out his newly released book, “The World According to Grog”, where he teases some behind-the-scenes insights and reflections on his journey.

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Gregory opened up about the emotional impact of being cut from the show:

“Really sad is the overriding emotion,” he shared. “In the book, I talk about it being like a grief process. It was a shock to begin with. Then I was upset, angry and sad.”

“But now I feel proud of everything I did – and everything James did, too. It’s hard to leave him behind, but I had no choice.”

Though Gregory appears to deny an imminent return, the storyline unfolding on Hollyoaks paints a different picture. As fans know, in this show, anything is possible – and James Nightingale’s return might just be around the corner.

Is James truly alive? Or is this just the beginning of a bigger, darker twist?

One thing’s for sure – viewers won’t want to miss what happens next in Hollyoaks, as the mystery continues to unravel.
