Hollyoaks fans were left stunned in tonight’s episode as Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) suddenly collapsed, leading to the shocking discovery of a life-threatening illness in an emotional and dramatic twist.
The incident unfolded when Lucas was found unconscious in his father Ste Hay’s (Kieron Richardson) flat by Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey). At first, Rex suspected Grace Black (Tamara Wall) — who was present at the scene — of foul play, but she quickly denied the accusation as they raced to get Lucas to the hospital in time.
Meanwhile, Ste was attending John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) and Jez Blake’s (Jeremy Sheffield) engagement party at The Hutch when he received a chilling phone call from Rex. Fearing his son had relapsed into drug use, Ste sprang into action, determined to be by Lucas’s side. He was joined by his longtime friend and former partner-in-crime, Sienna Blake (Anna Passey), who offered to drive him.
Unbeknownst to both, Sienna had been secretly drugged by Martha (Sherrie Hewson), leading to a terrifying car crash en route to the hospital.
Despite the chaos, Ste managed to arrive at the hospital, where Rex was on the verge of confessing everything about the criminal exploitation ring he had been entangled in — believing that Lucas’s collapse was a targeted attack ordered by his boss, DI Banks (Drew Cain).
However, before Rex could speak out, Lucas regained consciousness. In an emotional moment, he revealed to Ste that Dr. Misbah Maalik (Harvey Virdi) had already explained the real reason behind his collapse: Doctors had discovered a brain tumor.
Devastated and overwhelmed, Ste pleaded with his son to undergo the surgery needed to save his life.
