Longtime Hollyoaks star Nadine Mulkerrin has revealed her wish to step away from the popular soap in pursuit of fresh opportunities in her acting career.
Nadine, who has portrayed Cleo McQueen for nearly a decade, shared in a recent interview that she feels it’s time to move beyond her comfort zone and embrace new challenges:
“I’ve loved Hollyoaks and will always be grateful for the years I’ve spent playing Cleo. But as an actress, I also crave the chance to explore different roles and new, exciting projects.”
Nadine’s openness about potentially leaving the show has sparked concern among fans about the future of Cleo McQueen – one of the soap’s most beloved characters. Over the years, Cleo has been at the heart of powerful storylines, from her struggles with eating disorders to complicated romances and heartbreaking family drama.
While there has been no official announcement from Hollyoaks producers, an inside source hinted that the writing team has begun planning an “emotional exit” for Cleo should Nadine decide to depart.
Meanwhile, Nadine has expressed interest in branching out into film or long-form drama on streaming platforms:
“I’m really excited about what the future might hold. Maybe I’ll have the chance to be part of a psychological thriller or even a period drama – something completely different!”
