Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s (May 20) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.

Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) decided to seek revenge on Tommy Odenkirk (Brandon Fellows) after uncovering the truth about his manipulation and scheming.

Tommy, as viewers know, turned up in the eponymous village earlier this year masquerading as a therapist in the hopes of building a ‘brotherly’ bond with Joel, who attacked his brother Billy the previous year.

Billy was a bully who, according to Tommy, always picked on him and therefore the newcomer looked up to Joel for coming to his defence.

But Tommy’s actions caused hurt and pain, with the fake therapist leaking a video of Leela’s (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) rape ordeal in a bid to split her and Joel so that he would have the latter all to himself.

Joel was unaware of the extent of Tommy’s manipulation – that is, until earlier this week when Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) enlightened him.

The former priest resolved to go the police but, worried his murderous secrets would spill out after he confided them in Tommy, Jez instead took Joel out for a drink and preyed on his vulnerability, offering him drugs.

Tommy, meanwhile, insisted that Jez dispose of Leela – otherwise he will leak his murderous confessions to the police.

Speaking of Leela, the firefighter was left in shock when she learned that Tommy’s brother Billy was actually still alive – Tommy had lied about his death in order to have leverage over Joel.

Upon learning the truth, Joel was seething and Jez saw an opportunity to rid himself of Tommy, urging the former priest to kill his tormenter.

It seems Joel took such advice as he showed up at the flat, where Tommy – horrified to realise that his secrets were out – pleaded with Joel to think about what he was about to do.

But it was too late as Joel punched Tommy, who branded him just as bad as Billy. Having lost everything, Joel showed no signs on stopping as he continued to attack the fake therapist.

A truly chilling ending sequence, played to perfection by Rory Douglas-Speed and Brandon Fellows.

Has Joel committed murder? Is this really the end of Tommy? You’ll just have to keep watching to find out.
