Happy news: Hollyoaks star announces exciting family update – ‘BABY, BABY, BABY is coming!’

Coronation Street and Hollyoaks star Sonia Ibrahim has welcomed a child, who she described as “pure perfection”.
The actor, who played Mel Maguire and Kat Omari on the respective soaps, announced via Instagram that she had given birth to a baby boy last Sunday (22 June), with the star confirming his name in a sweet post.
“Sunday 22nd June at 10:26pm my life became complete,” wrote the actor, who was pictured holding her newborn son. “My beautiful boy Carter Benjamin Machin arrived, 7lbs of pure perfection. You are loved more than you will ever know little man.”
The news was greeted by several former co-stars in the comment section, with Corrie actor Lucy Fallon – who plays Bethany Platt – writing: “gorgeous, congratulations xxxxx”. Ibrahim responded to Fallon’s comment, writing: “thank you lovely ❤️”.
“What joy!!!! Congratulations to you and your gorgeous family. Sending loads of love xx”, commented Angela Griffin, who co-starred with the actor in Waterloo Road. Ibrahim, who played Jamilah Omar in the BBC soap, responded: “Thank you so much lovely lady ❤️”
Ashley Taylor Dawson, whose character Darren Osborne has shared scenes with Ibrahim’s Kat in Hollyoaks, commented: “Congratulations to you and your beautiful family! So happy for you all! Massive love ❤️”
Ibrahim made her debut as Mel on Corrie on Boxing Day in 2016, with the character exiting Weatherfield for good in October 2017. The actor subsequently joined Channel 4’s Hollyoaks last year, with her most recent appearance coming last month (26 May).
Ibrahim previously welcomed a daughter with husband Arron Machin, with the star writing in August 2020: “I am absolutely over the moon and feel unbelievably blessed to announce that myself and my amazing husband are expecting a beautiful little baby GIRL.
“Nothing in this world can top the feeling and excitement of knowing that I am going to be a mama, and I can promise one thing, above anything else, that I am going to love, adore, and cherish my little princess more than anything in this world.”
