Sad News: Jonathon Johnson Shares Heartbreaking Health Update: ‘It’s Too Late’

Getting candid.

Bachelor Nation fans first met Jonathon Johnson on Season 21 of The Bachelorette as he vied for Jenn Tran’s heart. Since his time on the show, Jonathon has stayed in the spotlight, frequently updating fans via social media about his life, adventures, and friendships within the franchise.

But this week, Jonathon made headlines for a far more personal and emotional reason.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the reality star revealed he’s been silently struggling for some time, sharing an emotional reflection on his mental health that has deeply moved his followers.

Jonathon Johnson Finally Spills the Tea on His Relationship with Jenn Tran

“I haven’t been happy for a while now… and that doesn’t mean I’ve been sad. I just haven’t been able to find the joy in life like normal,” Jonathon began.

He went on to admit that the changes in his life over the past year had taken a toll, and he hadn’t truly allowed himself to process them. The mounting pressure of public life, expectations, and upcoming reality TV appearances – including his confirmed role on Season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise – had left him questioning his direction.

“I was worried about what I put online, if what I bring to this new world is enough, and whether or not doing another show was a good idea,” he confessed.

In an effort to reclaim some peace of mind, Jonathon spontaneously booked a solo trip to Barcelona. The video he shared captures the quiet courage behind the decision — a reminder to prioritize self-care in a world of constant exposure.

Jonathon also opened up about his people-pleasing tendencies and how that had led him to ignore his own needs.

“I forgot that who I am at my core is a people pleaser and I love that about myself 90% of the time, but sometimes, when you go long enough and nobody does it for you, you forget to do it for yourself.”

Ending his message on a more empowering note, Jonathon encouraged his followers to reconnect with their worth:

“Take that much deserved time for yourself, and be the best version of yourself. That way, when you do things for others (or even yourself) they’re getting the best version of you!!”

While the phrase “It’s too late” from the title may reflect the weight of what Jonathon has been through emotionally, his actions show that he’s determined to shift course — to reclaim joy and rebuild from the inside out.

We’re sending Jonathon all the love and strength as he continues his healing journey and prepares for a new chapter on Bachelor in Paradise. His honesty is not only brave, but it’s likely to inspire many others facing similar inner battles.
