It’s official – Hollyoaks is airing a late-night special as part of the show’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
Popular spin-off show Hollyoaks Later is returning for a one-off episode later this year – and fans can expect high drama as familiar faces return.
Here’s everything we know so far…
1. It’s coming in October
The new episode of Hollyoaks Later is scheduled to air in October, as part of the Channel 4 soap’s big 30th birthday week.
This is the first episode of Later since 2020, when serial killer Breda McQueen finally got her comeuppance thanks to her son Sylver.
That episode was the second most-streamed Hollyoaks episode ever, so perhaps it’s no surprise that show bosses have decided to bring Later back…
2. There’s a mix of old and new
Show bosses have revealed that Hollyoaks Later features a mix of “current, returning and new characters” this time around. An exact line-up will be revealed at a later date, although we already know some of those involved (keep reading!).
Firm storyline details are also being kept under wraps for now, but fans can expect the usual after-dark escapades that keep fans gripped.
3. Warren Fox returns again
Jamie Lomas is making another exciting return as Warren Fox for the special episode.
Announcing the news, Jamie shared: “It’s great to be back for Hollyoaks’ 30th celebrations and what better way to return than a Laters.
“Warren has been busy since you last saw him, wanting to rebuild his empire and start afresh after the heartbreak with Mercedes.
“We’ll be filming a lot on location and they’re pulling out all the stops so I’m looking forward to it.”
4. Theresa is starring too
Hollyoaks Later also sees Jorgie Porter reprise her role as Theresa McQueen following her time away on maternity leave.
Jorgie commented: “It’s really exciting to be a part of Laters. I’ve been in so many over the years and they’re always my favourite. Hopefully I get a swear word this time.
“Theresa is scheming with an unlikely business partner and it’s fun to see her living life on the edge again. It’s incredible to time my return with the Hollyoaks 30th birthday week too, I couldn’t miss it.”
5. New character Gemma arrives
Former Coronation Street star Tisha Merry is joining Hollyoaks as a new series regular called Gemma.
Gemma makes her debut in Hollyoaks Later before joining the main show on a permanent basis. Her character is linked to Warren, so there’s sure to be plenty of dramatic scenes…
Tisha is best known to soap fans for playing Steph Britton on Coronation Street between 2013 and 2018.
Speaking about her new role, Tisha commented: “I’m absolutely over the moon to be joining the cast of Hollyoaks. It’s a fabulous opportunity and an incredible time to join as they celebrate their 30th birthday week.
“Gemma is flirty, feisty, and the kind of woman you’d want as your best friend… but never your enemy. She’s bold, unpredictable, and trust me when I say, she’ll be entering with a bang. I can’t wait for you all to meet her.”
