Bachelor Nation fans got to know Ali Fedotowsky-Manno on Season 14 of “The Bachelor” with Jake Pavelka and once again when she returned to our screens for Season 6 of “The Bachelorette” as the leading lady.
Since her time on the shows, Ali married Kevin Manno in 2017 and gave birth to their two kids, Molly and Riley.
Now, Ali and Kevin took to Instagram to share a “Manno family update” in a new video and Instagram post.
Alongside the video, Ali wrote, “We found out recently that @kevinmanno has Papillary Thyroid Cancer. Thankfully it’s a very treatable cancer. He has 2 malignant spots on his right side and it appears it is also in one lymph node, but we won’t know for sure until his surgery.”
In the video Kevin says, “The prognosis is very good. It looks good. February 10th is my surgery and we’re gonna knock it out and it’ll be behind us.”
Ali chimed in, adding, “I sometimes say Kevin is too positive about it. Not only did we meet with the surgeon that’s going to do Kevin’s surgery and remove either half or his entire thyroid. We also met with another oncologist to get a second opinion, and he said that if you have to get cancer, this is the one you want to get.”
Kevin noted that while that’s a “weird thing to say,” it gives them the optimism they need.
Ali revealed why they didn’t share the news with the public immediately, saying, “This has taken us a minute to wrap our brains around. We wanted to tell all of our friends and family and had a plan in place.”
We’re thinking of the Manno family and we’re wishing Kevin all the best for his surgery on Feb. 10.
