Bachelor Nation fans are watching Grant Ellis look for love on Season 29 of “The Bachelor” and tuning in each week to see how his journey unfolds.
During this week’s basketball group date, Grant sat down with BachelorNation.com for an exclusive interview about Night 1, his experience as the Bachelor, finding his forever person, and more!
We asked Grant how Night 1 went for him, and he teased that he might’ve already found his wife.
“Night 1 was a blessing. And all the women were amazing,” he said. “It was hard for me to let go of the first group of women, but it’s something I have to do so it’s a bittersweet thing. But what keeps me happy is knowing that my wife is in this room. So, I’m excited.”
Grant also opened up about being unsure of how to balance having feelings for multiple women at once and shared that it’s made being the Bachelor more difficult.
He admitted, “I’ve never done this before, so it’s definitely difficult. Definitely new. And you talk to one woman and you really start to feel her and like her, and then you talk to another one and you’re like, ‘I like her too!’ But at the end of this, you know, I’m only picking one, so I have some tough decisions I have to make.”
We asked Grant what qualities is he looking for when it comes to finding his forever person and if anyone in particular has caught his eye yet.
He spilled, “There’s a lot of them and honestly, seeing some of these women interact with the kids, there’s some that I didn’t really get to know a lot on Night 1 but now they’re definitely on my radar… I love kids. Like, they’re so innocent, they’re so pure, and they’ll tell you how they feel, [so] it was so good. And a lot of the women impressed me with how they interacted with them. I think that was the most impressive thing to me.”
He also added, “Having basketball skills is not important to me, but having that fight and that tenacity to show that you’re willing to put in the effort and fight, that’s important to me… maybe some kids, a beautiful home, just happiness. Somebody I can be myself with and somebody that’s going to push me and I’m going to push them. That’s what I’m looking for.”
Grant then reflected more on his journey as the Bachelor and shared that the whole experience has felt surreal to him.
He said, “I feel like I’m in a video game. I used to play 2K a lot growing up, NBA 2K. And it had this thing called “My Story” mode, where you could just be your own player and you would have interviews, this and that, so I feel like I’m there!… I appreciate Bachelor Nation so much and I hope they embrace me and my journey. And embrace my wife also too, so I can’t wait for that.”
