Maxine Minniver expressed and shared her regret at having to leave the film after more than 12 years of attachment.
Hollyoaks fans are convinced they’ve worked out how Maxine Minniver will leave the village following reports that Nikki Sanderson is leaving the Channel 4 soap after 12 years.
Fans have followed Maxine’s dramatic journey since she first arrived in the village back in 2012 and she’s faced her fair share of struggles including domestic violence, a heartbreaking custody battle, and plenty of relationship ups and downs.
One of her most memorable relationships was with Dodger Savage, portrayed by Danny Mac, which has recently rekindled but it appears that they may not get their happily ever after.
According to The Sun, actress Nikki decided to move on from Hollyoaks to give herself more freedom to try other roles.
A source told the publication: “She met with bosses and told them of her plans to leave, she’d just turned 40 and felt the time was right to say goodbye to Maxine.
She’s keen to explore other opportunities and is excited to get back out there. She will film her final scenes next month, which will go out on-screen in May.”
The news sent fans into meltdown with some soap sleuths wondering if Maxine could become Jez Blake’s (Jeremy Sheffields) next victim. The new serial k.i.l.l.e.r has already k.i.l.l.e.d off Abe Fielding and Dilly Harcourt and fans think she could be in danger.
In upcoming scenes, Maxine becomes suspicious of Jez after Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) suspects he k.i.l.l.e.d his cat.Maxine snoops around and allegedly uncovers incriminating evidence, like a murder journal, that confirms Jez is a k.i.l.l.e.r.
Just as she attempts to call the police, Jez catches her, snatching the phone from her hand. Taking to X, formerly known as Twtter, one fan penned: “Nikki Sanderson has confirmed she’s leaving I’m sure it’s 1 of 2- Maxine swept along with the human trafficking thing OR she’ll be a Jez victim -whilst she’s a brilliant actress what else can her character go through.”
Another added: “I can’t decide if it’s more likely Maxine will exit as a victim of Jez, a victim of Banks or of her own free will for a better life.” A third person said: “Apparently Maxine is leaving so probably Jez k.i.l.l.s her.”
