OG Bachelorette Trista Sutter Makes Decision to Put Things on Hold in 2025: ‘I Need a Break’
Trista Sutter is sharing her thoughts on The Bachelorette franchise going on hiatus for the first time in more than 15 years.
“Honestly, it’s hard because I am part of it, but I also am a viewer, and we all have our perspectives. We can all say, ‘Oh, you should do this, you should do that,'” Sutter, 52, exclusively told Parade at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday, Match 17. “Who knows what’s right. I think that it’s stuck around for almost 25 years now, and whatever they’re doing, it’s working, obviously, so they know the magic sauce.”
Sutter added, “I’m involved, but not really, you know? I’m a fan and I always will be. So whether it sticks around for 25 more years or it’s done next year, I’m still always a fan.”
Sutter was the runner-up on Season 1 of The Bachelor before becoming the lead on the inaugural season of The Bachelorette in 2003, when she got engaged to husband Ryan Sutter. The pair tied the knot in December that year, and their wedding was broadcast in a three-part special on ABC titled Trista & Ryan’s Wedding.
The longtime couple also share two kids together: son Maxwell, 17, and daughter Blakesley, 15, who posed on the red carpet alongside her mom at Monday night’s event.
In February, it was announced that The Bachelorette would not air this summer and that the dating competition show would skip a cycle for the first time since 2007. Deadline was the first to report the news.
