Hollyoaks legend of 12 years ‘shot dead’ in unexpected exit story

Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s (April 15) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) was shot by former flame Dodger Savage (Danny Mac) on orders from Grace Black (Tamara Wall).
The paralegal-in-training, whose life was previously threatened by Grace, was kidnapped by ex-lover Dodger earlier this week after he learned gangster Grace wanted her dead.
Grace, as viewers know, is overseeing a child exploitation in the village run by DI Banks (Drew Cain), with Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) serving as her right hand man.
Dodger, meanwhile, is working as an undercover cop in a bid to infiltrate the exploitation racket’s inner circle.
He explained to Maxine that he’s going after Rex, who targeted Dennis and kidnapped his granddaughter Victoria. With Maxine now having to go on the run due to Grace’s threats, she dared to dream of a future where she and Dodger could be together.
However, realising just how much Dodger needs to take Rex down, Max resolved to leave on her own. But the situation escalated rather dramatically, with Grace tracking Maxine down and bringing her to The Loft.
Dodger was tasked with proving his loyalty to the cause by shooting Maxine. If he failed, Grace would instead go after Myra-Pocahontas.

In horror scenes, Dodger pulled the trigger, with Maxine falling to the floor motionless. Is this the end for Maxine? And if so, has Dodger gone too far in his efforts to take down Grace, Rex and Banks?
Nikki, who has played Maxine for 12 years, is set to leave the Channel 4 soap.

‘Maxine is a huge, huge part of my life – and a part of my life that I’ve loved,’ she told OK! Magazine.
‘It’s difficult to think, “It’s time”, and it wasn’t an instant or overnight decision, it took me a long time to make it and it was something I genuinely fought with myself about, but I’m lucky that I could talk to people around me and get people’s opinions.’
